Houston, William V.: Appointed for a study of the recent developments in the quantum theory of atomic structure, especially as applied to the interpretation of spectra, principally with Professors A. Sommerfeld, at Munich, Germany, and Niels Bohr and W. Heisenberg, at Copenhagen, Denmark; tenure, twelve months from September 1, 1927.

Born January 19, 1900, at Mt. Gilead, Ohio. Education: Ohio State University, B.A. and B.S. in Education, 1920; University of Chicago, M.S., 1922; Ohio State University, Ph.D., 1925.

Instructor in Physics, Ohio State University, 1923–25; National Research Fellow in Physics, California Institute of Technology, 1925–27.
