“If this music transports you into a haunting, mysterious dream world, don’t worry about it – it’s only doing its job.” – Ingram Marshall wrote about New York-based Lithuanian born composer Žibuoklė Martinaitytė’s solo CD In Search of Lost Beauty…. Released on the Starkland label in 2019, it received 2 gold medals at the Global Music Awards for Best Composer and Best Album.  In 2020, Žibuoklė was granted the prestigious Lithuanian Government Award for her creative work. Žibuoklė is the recipient of many fellowships for artists residencies and composition awards including The MacDowell Colony, Djerassi Artists residency, Sylvia Goldstein, Look+Listen Composer’s Prize and others. Her music is released on 2 solo and multiple group CD’s, and is widely performed both in Europe and the USA.

Žibuoklė’s music revolves around the subject of beauty as a guiding principle and an aesthetic measure for sonic quality. Her pieces contain ambiguities where subtle textures of layered ephemeral overtones can be simultaneously charged with high emotional intensity. She is deeply concerned about how technology is changing our consciousness and finds music to be an effective antidote for an ever-shortening attention span. Žibuoklė’s music can be explored further on her website.
