FOSTER, ADRIANCE SHERWOOD:  Appointed for a comparative cyto-histological study of the meristems of buds of tropical ferns, gymnosperms and woody angiogsperms; tenure, eight months from January 1, 1942.

Born August 6, 1901, Poughkeepsie, New York.  Education:  Cornell University, B.S., 1923; Harvard University, M.S., 1925, Sc.D., 1926. National Research Council Fellow, Leeds University, 1926–28.

Assistant Professor of Botany, 1928–34, University of Oklahoma; Assistant Professor of Botany, 1934–38, Associate Professor, 1938—, University of California.
