DRESDEN, ARNOLD:  Appointed for the preparation of a book on the calculus of variations, at Pisa and the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton; tenure, twelve months from February 1, 1935.

Born November 23, 1882, in the Netherlands.  Education: University of Amsterdam, 1901–03; University of Chicago, S.M., 1906, Ph.D., 1909.

Instructor in Mathematics, 1909–12, Assistant Professor, 1912–21, Associate Professor, 1921–27, University of Wisconsin; Professor of Mathematics, 1927—, Swarthmore College; Assistant Professor of Mathematics, University of Chicago, Summer, 1915; Professor of Mathematics, University of Pennsylvania, Summer, 1928.
