Richard Lange was born in Oakland, California, in 1961 and grew up in California’s San Joaquin Valley. His first collection of short stories, Dead Boys, received the 2008 Rosenthal Family Foundation Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and was a finalist for the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing from Stanford University. An Italian translation (Come Morti) was published by Einaudi, and the French edition will be published by Albin Michel. His stories have appeared in the Iowa Review, the Sun, the Georgia Review, and Best American Mystery Stories of 2004, among other publications. His first novel, This Wicked World, will be published in June 2009. Mr. Lange has a B.A. in film from the University of Southern California and lives in Los Angeles.
