Loomis, Francis Wheeler: Appointed for a study of the new quantum mechanics, especially in relation to problems in band spectra, principally with Professor J. Franck at Göttingen, Germany, and Professor E. Schrödinger at Berlin, Germany; tenure, twelve months from June 1, 1928.

Born August 4, 1889, at Parkersburgh, West Virginia. Education: Harvard University, A.B., 1910, A.M., 1913, Ph.D., 1917.

Research Physicist, Westinghouse Lamp Company, 1917 and 1919–21; Assistant Professor of Physics, 1921–23, Associate Professor, 1923—, New York University.

Publications: Articles in Astrophysical Journal, Physical Review, Nature and the Journal of the Franklin Institute.
