In 2009, Arlene Shechet had solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the Tang Museum in Saratoga Springs, New York. In 2010 she will open an exhibition of new work at Jack Shainman Gallery in New York City. She has exhibited widely including, most recently, at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Rubin Museum of Art, New York, Real Art Ways, Hartford, and Henry Art Gallery, Seattle. In addition to her Guggenheim Fellowship of 2004, she has received three separate grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts and a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artist Grant. Her most recent work is in many public collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Brooklyn Museum. She is represented in New York City by Jack Shainman Gallery and in Santa Monica by Shoshana Wayne Gallery. She received her B.A. from New York University and her M.F.A. from Rhode Island School of Design. The artist lives and works in New York City.
