Arthur P. Shimamura is a Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley.  He studies human cognitive function from a biological perspective by characterizing memory disorders in patients with brain injury and assessing brain activity using functional magnetic resonance imaging.  He is also interested in connections between mind, brain, and aesthetics.  Professor Shimamura has been Scientific Advisor for the San Francisco Exploratorium and was honored with the Distinguished Teaching Award by the Division of Social Science, UC Berkeley.
