Malaska was born and raised in Portland, OR. Before graduating with a BFA from California College of the Arts in San Francisco, her self-directed studies took her from Rome, Italy to rural Maine. She earned an MFA in Visual Studies from the Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland, and has exhibited her work at venues including: Portland Community College; Froelick Gallery, Portland; California College of the Arts, San Francisco; and the College of the Atlantic, Maine, among others. She is the recipient of a Painter’s and Sculptor’s Grant from the Joan Mitchell Foundation, a Hallie Ford Fellowship from The Ford Family Foundation, and a grant from the Elizabeth Greenshield’s Foundation. Her work is part of the permanent collections of the Portland Art Museum, the Schneider Museum of Art, and the Hallie Ford Museum. Malaska lives in Portland and is represented by Russo Lee Gallery.
