Franz Wright

Franz Wright has published twelve collections of poetry (five of them have appeared during the past decade, between 2001 and 2009, all published by Alfred A. Knopf in New York). He has also published five collections of translation. His poems have frequently appeared in virtually every major American literary journal, including The New Yorker and Poetry; and many of them have been translated into German, French and Spanish. He has also published essays on literary and religious issues. In 2004 his collection Walking To Martha’s Vineyard received the Pulitzer Prize, and as has sometimes been noted this made him and his father (canonical mid-twentieth century poet James Wright) the only father/son recipients of the prize. His most recent book is Wheeling Motel. And he recently released the CD Readings From Wheeling Motel, which was recorded in Los Angeles in collaboration with Daniel Ahearn of the band Ill Lit and legendary musician and producer Michael Rozon. Other works due to be published soon are the chapbooks Leave Me Hidden, which contains twenty-five new poems, and 7Prose, which contains seven of the prose poems from one of the books he is currently working on.
