Born April 30, 1908, Clinton County, Indiana.  Education:  New York University, B.S., 1933, M.S., 1934 (University Fellow, 1933–34; Blumenthal Research Fellow, 1936–37). University of California, Ph.D., 1936 (University Fellow, 1934–36).

Instructor in Mathematics, 1937–42, Assistant Professor, 1942—, New York University.
