Born July 16, 1906, LaFayette, Alabama.  Education:  Lincoln Memorial University, A.B., 1929; Vanderbilt University, M.A., 1930; University of Illinois, B.S., 1931.

Librarian, 1933—40, Hindman Settlement.

Publications:  Hounds of the Mountain, 1937; River of Earth, 1940. Articles in Atlantic Monthly, American Mercury, Yale Review, Story, Virginia Quarterly Review, Saturday Evening Post, Frontier and Midland, Prairie Schooner.
