Jennifer Sirey was born in Brooklyn, NY. Her process-driven sculpture engages organic materials and natural phenomena, incorporating glass, liquids, found objects, wax, bacteria, algae, wood, and metal in monolithic forms. For years, she has been refining a process of growing Acetobacter, or “Mother of Vinegar,” to construct living sculptures. Jennifer holds a BFA from The School of Visual Arts, was awarded a Hopper Prize grant and residencies at The Bemis Center, Roswell AIR, Yaddo, Montello Foundation, Hambidge Arts Center and WillapaBay AIR, solo exhibitions at Feature Inc. in NY, Kevin Bruk in Miami, Platform Project Space and Real Estate Fine Art in Brooklyn, included in exhibitions at Klaus Von Nichtssagend, Helena Anrather, Ceysson & Bénétière, Feature Inc., Morgan Lehman, Andrew Edlin, On Stellar Rays, Derek Eller, The Memorial Art Gallery in NY and The Georgia Museum of Art. Jennifer was interviewed by Lydia Lunch for the December 2021 Podcast The Lydian Spin and featured in the Spring 2022 issue of BOMB Magazine. Her sculpture is in the permanent collection at the Georgia Museum of Art in Athens, GA.
