McCRADY, JOHN:  Appointed for creative work in painting; tenure, twelve months from August 1, 1939.

Born September 4, 1911, at Canton, Mississippi. Education:  University of Mississippi, 1930–32; University of Pennsylvania Summer School, 1931, 1932; New Orleans Art School, 1932–33; Art Students League of New York, 1933–34.

One-man show, Louisiana State University, 1935; University of Mississippi, 1935; High Museum of Art, Atlanta, 1937; Delgado Museum, 1938. Exhibited at Corcoran Gallery, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Gibbs Art Gallery of Charleston, Town Hall of New York, Arts and Crafts Club of New Orleans, Whitney Museum of American Art, New Orleans Art Association, Mississippi Art Association, City Art Museum of St. Louis, Pan American Exposition, Golden Gate Exposition, High Museum of Art, New York World’s Fair. Awarded First Prize, black and white, Delgado Museum, 1935; awarded mural contract, United States Treasury Department, 1938; awarded First Prize in painting, Arts and Crafts Club of New Orleans, 1938. Represented in the permanent collection of Southeastern Louisiana College, High Museum of Art, City Art Museum of St. Louis.
