Mike Lew is thrilled to be a Guggenheim Fellow. A Brooklyn-based playwright, his plays include tiny father (Audible); Teenage Dick (Wooly Mammoth, Huntington, Donmar Warehouse, Ma-Yi at the Public; O’Neill and Public workshops); Tiger Style! (South Coast Rep, Olney, Huntington, La Jolla Playhouse, Alliance; O’Neill workshop); Bike America (Ma-Yi, Alliance); and microcrisis (Ma-Yi, InterAct). He and his wife Rehana Lew Mirza are Mellon Foundation Playwrights in Residence at Ma-Yi Theater where they cowrote The Colonialism Trilogy and the book to the musical Bhangin’ It with composer/lyricist Sam Willmott (La Jolla Playhouse; Project Springboard and Rhinebeck Writers Retreat workshops). Mike is a Dramatists Guild Council member, Tony voter, and New Dramatists resident. Honors: Lark Venturous and NYFA fellowships; Kleban, PEN, Richard Rodgers, Lanford Wilson, Helen Merrill, Heideman, and Kendeda awards; Intel Science Talent Search Finalist. Education: Juilliard, Yale.
