HOUGHTON, CHARLES NORRIS:  Appointed for studies in the field of the arts of the theatre, abroad; tenure, eight months from August 15, 1934.

Born December 26, 1909, at Indianapolis, Indiana. Education:  Princeton University, A.B., 1931; John Herron Art School, 1925, 1926.

Scenic Director, 1931–32, The Theatre Unit, Inc.; Art Assistant, 1932, Radio City Theatres Corporation; Stage Manager, 1933, The Theatre Guild, Inc.; Art Director, 1933, The Surry Players; Art and Technical Director, 1933, for Arthur J. Beckhard.

Designed settings for forty-one plays produced in New York, Baltimore, Princeton, Bar Harbor and West Falmouth, 1927–1933.
