Born November 13, 1911, in Chicago.  Education:  Armour Institute of Technology, 1928–30; University of Illinois, B.S., 1932, M.S., 1933; Johns Hopkins University, Ph.D., 1936.

Member of the Staff, 1934, Johns Hopkins University excavations at Olynthos, Greece; Fellow of the Archaeological Institute, 1936–38, Special Fellow for Corinth, 1938–39, American School of Classical Studies at Athens.
