Born January 20, 1894, at Rockland, Maine.  Education:  Harvard University, A.B., 1924 (John Knowles Paine Fellowship, 1924–26); Massachusetts Normal Art School, 1914–16. Musical studies with Nadia Boulanger in Paris.
